Nichol McKay Ltd
Nichol McKay Limited is based at Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. It manufactures metal components for original equipment manufacturers, mainly in the earth moving, power generation and materials handling markets. In the late 1990s, the company lost business to a low-cost subcontractor based in Eastern Europe. However, Nichol McKay's reputation for production quality, delivery and customer service resulted in it subsequently being approached by the former customer to recommence the manufacture and assembly of fork lift components back in Scotland.
In February 2005 we offered the company RSA of £250k plus £15k New Deal premium to allow it to expand production capacity to allow for the extra work and also to help further improve production efficiencies. Capital expenditure is estimated at £1m and our offer of RSA will allow Nichol McKay to win back the business for Scotland and create 35 new jobs at Prestwick.
