"Establishing a project on the scale of Stirling Medical Innovations is an extremely complex operation. The grant assistance and expertise Scottish Development International brought to the process was invaluable. The financial assistance was part of a package that included identifying and securing a superb location on Stirling Innovation Park. We received highly professional support that made our project possible". Rob Hutchison, Managing Director
Stirling Medical Innovations Ltd, a subsidiary of Inverness Medical Innovation Inc, was established in 2005 at Stirling University Innovation Park to undertake the research, development and manufacture of biotechnology diagnostic platforms aimed at providing home and point of care testing systems, initially for cardiovascular disease management.
In February 2005, we offered RSA of £3.8m towards the £11m capital expenditure element of a £67m overall project to establish and grow the business in Scotland; the project is expected to create 500 new jobs. Our assistance helped to influence the location of the project in favour of Scotland rather than at alternative locations in Israel, Ireland and France.
