Workforce Development and Recruitment

RSA has recently introduced, for larger cases - those involving grants over £250k - a linkage between RSA offers and businesses' workforce development planning to support their grant assisted projects.

In this context, workforce development plans mean systems introduced by an employer to help ensure that its workforce is best equipped to meet the current and future skills needs of the company and the industry within which it operates. Workforce development plans may encompass a range of activities, including formal or informal training, which allow the achievement of skills or knowledge required by the individual for the business.

Our aim is to encourage businesses to engage with our Local Enterprise Company (LEC) partners to discuss the business workforce development requirements and to see how the LEC might help to take them forward. This engagement will form part of RSA's formal offer for those grants over £250k.

Recruitment Services - Jobcentre Plus

Colleagues in Jobcentre Plus can offer a free service to employers through a network of offices and contact centres. Services include:

Advice on recruitment methods & procedures
Information about local labour market such as employment levels, candidate availability and labour rates
Advice where you have difficulties filling vacancies
Advice on local recruitment events
Access to information and expert advice about employment and training

They can also provide enhanced services to help overcome many of the obstacles associated with recruitment:

Work trials. These allow applicants to show what they can do and allow you to access, at no cost, their suitability to the job.
New Deal. You may benefit from financial incentives if you recruit people taking part in New Deal 25+ and New Deal for Young People.
Special help with employing and retaining people with disabilities.
