GE Caledonian Ltd
Prestwick based GE Caledonian Ltd, which is ultimately wholly owned by US headquartered General Electric Company, undertakes the repair and refurbishment of aero engines and related components, predominantly serving global export markets.
We offered RSA of £5.6m in November 2006 in respect of a £28m project to upgrade its plant so that it can handle the next generation of engines that has been developed to power advanced planes like the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Our assistance helped secure the project for Scotland in the face of competition from a sister subsidiary in Brazil, thereby leading to the safeguarding of 300 skilled jobs in Ayrshire.
