Scottish Business Grants

Aid for Job Creation

Most projects require a substantial amount of capital investment. However for projects involving relatively low levels of capital expenditure but which involve the creation of new jobs, RSA can still make a meaningful contribution to project funding.

For these projects, we can calculate limits on potential grant by applying the appropriate aid limit to the first two years salary costs of the project jobs. Thus, a project involving, for example, a relatively low number of highly paid jobs can attract as much funding as one involving a higher number of jobs earning a lower amount.

This will generally mean that we can offer more grant for highly paid jobs.

Under Aid for Job Creation, it is difficult for us to assist those jobs which include a mobile element as our Guidelines focus firmly on jobs created and located at the project establishment, although all cases are considered on an individual basis.  As a guide, in order to qualify for RSA under Aid for Job Creation, any post which involves the holder being away from the project premises for more than one day per week is unlikely to be eligible.

Even if all other grant criteria are satisfied, both the location of the project and the size of the business also have a significant influence on how much grant we can offer under Aid for Job Creation.

Aid for job creation does not apply in respect of safeguarded jobs.
